Your Host - Nick Umble

Hi!! I am Nick Umble. I grew up on a farm in southeastern Iowa. Upon graduating high school in 1996, I joined the Army as a vertical engineer. In 1999, I decided to try out for the Special Forces (U.S. Army Green Beret). I spent the rest of my military career (16 years) in the 1st Special Forces Group in numerous positions. I retired as a 1st Sergeant in 2016.

After retiring in 2016, I played college football at the NAIA level for the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx (2016-17 season). I was the starting long snapper and backup right guard for the Lynx. By 2020, I was bored and needed a hobby, so I chose to compete in Strongman. This past year (2023) was fantastic for me in competitions. I won Deleware’s Strongest Man and America’s Strongest Veteran. In November, I placed 6th at America’s Strongest Master.

I am married to my awesome wife, Jenn, who supports my strongman habit and is my best friend. We reside in West Virginia. In the fall, we travel around the country to watch college football. We have been to over 70 games and 40 different stadiums.

I will graduate with a master’s in Exercise Science with a discipline in strength and conditioning this coming December. I have also started my own strength and conditioning company, Sentinel Strength.
